[edited June 7, 2016 with updates and corrections.]
After many, many months of waiting and hard work we are excited to share some good news with you.
Since we began partnering with Home of Grace in Kenya more than three years ago, we have wanted to gain some official status here in Canada – both in order to provide donors with charitable tax receipts but more importantly, to ensure accountability, stability and support to Edina and her staff in Kenya. We are happy to announce that this has now become a reality!
After much discussion, we as a board decided to pursue the adoption of Home of Grace as a project of another Canadian charity already working in Kenya rather than registering as a charity of our own. Our feeling was that this would allow our work in Kenya to become part of the larger development picture and would give Home of Grace the administrative support of an organization with international and cross-cultural experience.
We are happy to announce that we have connected Home of Grace with Speroway, an international development agency based in
Guelph Burlington, Ontario. They have now added Home of Grace as one of their projects. For those of you not familiar with this organization please refer to their website: www.speroway.com We are pleased and privileged that Home of Grace in Kenya is connected with them and we know direction and practical help they can give will be invaluable as they fulfill their objectives as a charity.
In terms of making donations, there are now several options.
You can donate with Paypal through Speroway’s Home of Grace program page. Access Speroway through their website, click on the “Our Impact” link, select Home of Grace Kenya (that’s us!) and go from there.
Cheques will now be made payable to “Speroway”. It is important that you include “Home of Grace Care Centre” on the memo line.
Electronic transfer from your bank account or using your credit card can be arranged by speaking directly with Speroway at 1-877-382-2262.
As a donor to Speroway your charitable receipts will come from them.
As a board we will continue to correspond with you in order to share information from Home of Grace through our newsletter and other updates (subscribe on this website). We will now be able to focus our time and energy on sharing the story of Home of Grace and helping advocate for vulnerable children in that region of the world. We will continue, of course, to organize additional fund-raising events in order to continue finding ways to financially support Speroway, Home of Grace and the children.
We couldn’t support the children without your generous and ongoing help. We are so grateful for your involvement! We know this new development will make the support we are able to provide to the whole Kisii community that much stronger. THANK YOU!!
